Acne is a condition of the skin that is common in people all over the world especially those belonging to the teenage group of age. There is a natural skin tendency fro acquiring the disease as well as the daily habits of a person play a significant role in development of acne. There are different types of acne divided on the basis of presentation of the disease and these are namely.
Acne Vulgaris
This is the commonest most frequently occurring in puberty and is located at the comedogenic areas of the body such as the face, back and chest. There is a genetic predominance seen for this pattern of acne as well as male preponderance. The condition occurs at boys mostly between the age of 18 to 19 years while a in girls the time line is from 16 to 18. Adult Acne is a variant of Acne Vulgaris that affects about 1% of men and 5% of adult women.
Infantile Acne
This as the name suggests is the type of acne that presents during the first few months of life. These are situated on the face and usually clear after a while but may progress to early years of age with increased severity in adolescence.
Acne conglobata
This is a severe form of acne more common in boys who reside in topical climates. It is extensive and affects the trunk, face and limbs. In Acne fulminance there is associated systemic illness with malaise, fever as well as joint pain. The disease is said to be associated with hypersensitivity to P.acnes. Another form of this disease is Pyoderma Faciale which results in erythematous and necrotic lesions. The incidence is more common in adult females.
